After a long wait.. finally.. iphone genius george hotz ( better known as GeoHot ) has taken up the challenge to unlock the latest baseband 05.11.07.
He calls this new unlock Blacksn0w.. as of now he is working on it and as soon as there is any update on this, we will post it here..
The wait for BlackSn0w has begun..
All the developers (and people who love to screw around with their phones) can now jailbreak their devices running the latest 3.1 beta 3 build 7C116a.
This can be done using iReb from appleturk.net.

Few hours ago Dev-Team release they new unlocking software called “Ultrasn0w“. As they said before, ultrasn0w can be used to unlock iPhone 3G (Firmware 2.x & 3.0) and the new iPhone 3GS (If jailbreakable!!!).

The iPhone Dev-Team have been teasing us for a little bit now with what they’ve been saying is an iPhone OS 3.0-compatible version of yellowsn0w, and tonight in a video presentation they unveiled ultrasn0w, which should let you unlock any iPhone on the market, running any version of the firmware from 3.0 on down. The trick to how they’re getting the jailbreak hasn’t been revealed yet for fear of Apple making a fix at the eleventh hour, but if everything goes according to plan, the new hacking software should be out Friday in time for the iPhone 3G S . Hit up the read link to watch the magic happen right before your very own eyes.
The actual program that UltraSn0w injects into the baseband to accomplish the unlock is the exact same one the Dev Team developed for YellowSn0w. What changed is that the Dev Team found a new “hole” to inject the unlocking payload.
Note that, there is no baseband downgrade needed. You can just upgrade to 3.0 tomorrow and wait for the Dev Team to push its unlocking tools and UltraSn0w on Friday.
Only ultrasn0w is going to take til Friday to get pushed out. All of our other tools should be out pretty soon after the official Apple release. If you apply our jailbreak when it comes out, you can install ultrasn0w anytime after that. You obviously won’t have cell service in the meantime, though. This may in fact be directly applicable to the iPhone 3GS if it can be jailbroken, because it runs the same baseband version. Whether or not it can be jailbroken is a big question right now!
You can downgrade your iPhone from 2.2 to 2.1 using these instructions! I tested this method on iPhone 2G and it works fine for me! You can test it on your iPhone 3G (you own risk) and report the results here!
if you update your iPhone 3G to 2.2 , your phone baseband also updated to 02.28.00! As I thinks this method cannot downgrade the baseband version!
