AppSync & installd
June 20th, 2009 by Mojtaba

[Update 5 feb 2010]*iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 is not supported, There is no jailbreaking solution for that!

Finally Hackulo.us release their new tool named “AppSync” that can patch the iDevices (iPodTouch, iPhone …) in order to install ipa files without paying apple!

What we need

  • A jailbroken iPhone 2G or 3G (or iPod touch!) -How To-
  • Cydia (Automatically installed in jailbreaking process)
  • Internet connection (Faster is better!)
  • A PC or MAC
  • An iTunes Account -How To-
  • Some ipa files (Can be downloaded from appulo.us)

The process

  1. Open Cydia (DONT USE ICY)
  2. Add this source: http://cydia.hackulo.us
  3. install AppSync or installd
  4. Restart iPhone
  5. Connect iPhone to your PC/Mac by USB-Cable
  6. Copy cracked ipa files into your iTunes Library (just drag and drop to the iTunes Window)
  7. Tell iTunes to install applications that you want
  8. Start Syncing iPhone!
  9. enjoy it!

Hey man, the easiest way for you to enjoy your iphone is to jailbreak it and download the apps you find interesting. You can easily manage your background theme’s, add features such as cracked apps and improve your phone experience.

First of all go to youtube.com and search for “jailbreak for iphone 3g/3gs firmware 3.1.2″ video.

Then go to cydia (the youtube-video will tell you all about cydia) add the source http://cydia.hackulo.us

Last tthing to do is to add installous from the hackulo.us source and you’re good to go. This is just a general overview of what to do, when wanting to add apps quickly and free to your iphone. I’m just a general user, but I found it to be very helpful to read some info and search through some youtube.com. Hope you can make use of this, ’cause I usually don’t post stuff up.

I just upgraded to 3.1.2 and ran Blackra1n. I installed appsync 3.1 and rebooted, however, cracked ipas no longer sync. Anyone have any idea why?

Hey Michael. I have been mulling over the same problem. I installed Rock, and it works great for hacked apps. I just added the Cydia URL above as a source, and then installed installd (aka appSync).

I should now be able to sync all ipas now. I will post here again later if that doesn’t work, once tested.

Same thing happened to me. IPhone 3g 3.1.2, blackra1n jailbroken. Followed the steps above and then restarted. No longer connects to iTunes.

@Gordon – Appsync only works with OS 3.0. Try to use mobileinstallationpatch or MiPatch instead

    Hi,

After installing Appsync my phone crashed. I can reach the files with SSH, but the springbpoard doesn’t start at all. What should I do? How could I undo the changes that Appsync did? What files are changed by Appsync? I am really in big trouble. Restore always takes a whole day…

  • Mojtaba writes:

@Don- You must install OpenSSH via Cydia on your iPhone then you have to connect to your phone via SSH, you can use WinSCP or CyberDuck.

  • RussWWFC writes:

I used Appsync and all appeared to be OK, however the following day my phone crashed, wouldn’t sync or restore and had to be recovered.

Could Appsync have caused this, I think it is more likely down to my USB hub playing up and messing up my phone to be fair.

Also, there is no Installd any more – is Installious the same thing? (only mentions install from Safari browser)
