Installous unable to decompress archive
November 4th, 2008 by Mojtaba

According to several comments (Also wide range of Google searches!) I think iPhone users have problems with the new version of Installous (1.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.2)! (I try to find some way to Downgrade it to the 1.1 but i can’t find any way yet!)

Reported issues:

  • Unable to decompress archive! (Main Problem)
  • Permission errors
  • iTunes removes installed apps
  • [Updated] “1 broken packages” the following packages have unmet dependencies: Installous

Solutions: (Exact solution not available yet)

If any of these solutions works for you (or if you have better solutions) please leave comment here and describe your experiences!

Version 1.2 (Also 1.2.2) works fine for me!

Stay Tuned…

Hey guys I think I figured It out. This should fix the decompress files problem. When you download from Installous don’t close Installous out. Let watever your trying to download stay on the installous screen until it it says 100%,do that along with u install and reinstalling installous.

When you upgrade or restore your phone to OS 3.0 it saves alot of the settings from your previous install. If you then restore from backup you are rewriting some of the old files. Here is what worked for me. This may not be for everybody but give it a try.

    1. Delete the file /var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist
    then respring your phone.

    2. Download a new app (free or paid) from the itunes store to create a new file.

    3. Download program from cydia and install.

    4. If you can’t see the app in springboard, go to the safari settings and clear out everything in the cache, cookies, and history.

    5. Respring the phone.

They should show up in springboard now. If you are installing files from appulo.us or installo.us you will need to download the appsync 3.0 and install that first then respring the phone. Without that program you will not be able to sync to Itunes.

First you have to have install an app from Itunes store, after that go ahead and install via installous, if the apps still doesent show, try installing Categories from Cydia and make a folder and when u add items to the folder your none showing games are usually showing there so u can put them in a folder and start them
