ac”, in this post you will find how to connect your iPhone to the internet using your home Internet connection (ADSL, Dial Up, etc). The following instructions assume you have a laptop or PC/Mac with a wireless network card. You do not need to have a wireless router/network as we will be creating our own ad-hoc network to establish a link between the PC/Mac and iPhone.
These instructions may not work correctly if your iPhone running on OS ver 1.1.4 ; Please upgrade to 2.x !!
First Configuring PC
- Open “Network and Sharing Center” (Windows Vista)
- Select “Manage Wireless networks”
- Click on the “Add” button
- Select “Create an ad hoc connection”
- Click “Next”
- Enter name for the new Connection (Example: iPhone Wi-Fi)
- Select Security type (WEP or Open)
- Set a password (If WEP selected)
- Check “Save this network” then Click “Next”
- Ignore anything like this “Enable Internet connection sharing…” **
- Close the appearing window
- Open “Network and Sharing Center” (Windows Vista)
- Select “Manage network connections”
- Select both wireless connection and Local area connection (that you have Internet on it!!!)
- Right Click on one of them then select “Bridge Connections”
- Wait for windows to complete the Bridging possess
** If your computer connected to the Internet using PPPoE let’s windows Share the internet connection. (This may not work correctly!)
On your Mac
- Create a ad-hoc connection! (It’s depend on the hardware that you use!)
- Open Settings
- Click on sharing button
- Select Internet connection sharing
- Check both the iPhone connection and Internet connection (Ehternet0 , Ethernet1, etc)
Now Setting up the iPhone
- Power on iPhone!
- Open Settings
- Select Wi-Fi
- Turn on Wi-Fi
- Now you must see the name of your ad-hoc connection that created in previous steps!
- Simply Click on the name of connection
- iPhone will automatically join the network (You must enter your password if any)
- Click on the blue button on the right side of the connection name
- Scroll down then Click Renew leases
- Now you must see the correct settings of IP-Address, Default gateway, etc!
- Navigate to home screen
- Open safari and enjoy surfing web!
Without DHCP server! (Just for PC; I haven’t any idea for Mac users!)
- Create an ad-hoc connection on your PC.
- Open “Network and Sharing Center” (Windows Vista)
- Select “Manage network connections”
- Right Click on wireless connection then click properties

In General Tab select Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IP ver 4) and click the Properties button

Select “Use the Following IP Address” and enter 192.168.0.1 in the IP Address field
- Enter 255.255.255.0 as Subnet Mask field
- Leave the remaining fields blank, and click the OK button
- [UPDATE]
- Download CCproxy.exe (google it)
- run CCproxy (ver 6.61)
- click on advance button
- go to networks tab
- select your computer IP address
- then select ok.
Dial-up Connection
Note: Dial-up Connection is too slow for using on the iPhone!
- Create an ad-hoc connection as before
- Open the properties of your Dial-up Connection
- In Sharing Tab select allow other network users …
- Turn On Wi-Fi
- Now you will see the ad-hoc connection that you created in previous steps! (Example: iPhone WiFi)
- Click on the blue button in the front of the Connection name
- Select [Static] button and enter 192.168.0.2 in the Address field (Remember that the first three numbers must be same as the PC configuration, 4th number is anything between 2 & 255)
- Enter 255.255.255.0 (Same as the PC configuration) in the Subnet Mask field
- Scroll down the settings page and select the Manual button for HTTP Proxy
- [UPDATE]Enter 192.168.0.1 (you PC IP address) in the Server field and 808 in the Port field
- Tap the Wi-Fi Networks button at the top and select the new iPhone connection to join
